Once you’ve chosen a website builder, the next steps are straightforward. First, you create an account using your email, Google Account, or Facebook. You may be asked to specify the type of website you are creating, such as an e-commerce store or a personal blog.
Create an account with Wix
If you choose Wix, you’ll be asked a series of questions, including what kind of website you’re building and whether you’ve built one before. Then, you can choose between building your website with Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) or a template. The Wix ADI way is faster and less customized. After answering a few questions, it will create a website complete with custom images and text of your choice. The template way still gives you a lot of structure to your website, but it also gives you a lot of customization options so you can design your website the way you want.
Create an account with Weebly
Once you create an account, you will be asked if you want to create a website for business or personal use. With Weebly, you can create a free website only for personal use. When you choose a personal website, you will be asked to choose a theme.
Weebly offers different themes depending on the focus of your site, such as Business Portfolio, Personal, Event, and Blog. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be taken to Weebly’s website editor. This is where you build your website, from the images to the text. Depending on the theme you choose, some elements will generally remain in place (the headings or fonts, for example) but all aspects of the site will be customizable.
Finally, when you’re happy with your website and want to publish it, hit “Publish” and choose your domain name. The free version contains Weebly in the URL (eg www.mybusinessname.weebly.com), and Weebly will give you feedback on the paid versions if the domain name you provide is taken.
Create a WordPress account
WordPress will ask you to create an account with your name, email, and username. You will then be prompted to search for a domain. Using the same example, when you search for “my business name,” WordPress gives you options that can be purchased.
The completely free version looks like this: www.mybusinessname6838183.wordpress.com. Of course, this isn’t exactly pretty or easy to remember, which is good to keep in mind and might make Weebly or Wix a more desirable choice.
